Dear Parents, Guardians, Community Members and Friends of Dongola Unit 66,
It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to the 2015-2016 school year at Dongola Unit #66. This is an exciting and busy time of year with a fresh start for all! Because we are beginning school earlier this year, our faculty and custodians have worked very hard to be ready! I’d also like to highlight the contributions of our staff and students over the summer. On numerous occasions, both were on site assisting with facility improvement. Further, the dedication of our teachers to continue to improve our school was made evident through attendance at numerous on and off site professional development opportunities. We have many dedicated people at DUSD 66 and I would like to thank all of them for their contributions to the betterment and growth of our school. Please know your work does not go unnoticed.
Due to the economic state of our school, we did not replace our retirees. But, even with our financial challenges, we are heading in the right direction. Our fiscal circumstances will require us to program differently than we have in the past, but as a community and a team, we will be successful. Our school is, and should be, the center of our community. We welcome community input and participation. My door is always open and I invite you to see me if ylu have positive suggestions for our continued improvement.
This year we are continuing to grow our technology infrastructure by rolling out another mobile computer lab. Another of our top priorities is to update our elementary reading program. Finally, one of our biggest goals is to continue to improve the culture of our school. Our culture will be one of acceptance and understanding. Our PBIS team has adopted the slogan “Respect yourself, Respect others, Respect Property” and this year, we will live by that slogan. On behalf of the Board of Education, our administration and faculty, I wish you and our students a very successful 2015-2016 school year.
With Dongola Pride,
Dr. Paige Helm Maginel
Superintendent
